Fort Myers lawyer J. Patrick Buckley suspended

NBC29 WVIR Charlottesville, VA News, Sports and Weather Former Fort Myers lawyer J. Patrick Buckley III will certainly remain in court on June 24 to answer to felony charges of fraud by deceiving and grand larceny of more than $100,000.

Buckley was apprehended on a warrant at his Fort Myers home Thursday, according to a Lee County Sheriff's Office arrest report. He was arraigned Monday early morning.

Deputies found Buckley inside his house holding a black handgun to his head threatening to kill himself.

He never ever made verbal or physical threats to law enforcement officers involving the weapon, the report stated. After a brief back-and-forth with deputies, he put the weapon on his kitchen table and provided himself as much as deputies.

Buckley described himself on his Twitter account as: "Attorney, Author & Firearms Instructor".

The Supreme Court of Florida suspended Buckley in February for misappropriating clients' funds.

Buckley is noted as "Not Eligible to Practice Law in Florida" on the Florida Bar site.

The website states the graduate of the University of Miami School of Law was admittedinto the Florida Bar on April 25, 2001.
